Much of a muchness

Things that make you go 'hmm'…

Now you see me, now you don’t…

I am back from Mallorca, rested and with Vitamin D stores replenished. I seriously think I was suffering from SAD (seasonal affective disorder). I’m normally a fairly cheerful soul – everything is fine (until it isn’t!) but I had started to feel that things most definitely were not fine any more – hence my visit to Mallorca.

I’ve not really had chance to catch up since I got back so I apologise if I have missed anything vital! I think I may have missed a few tags – if I have – sorry, I’ll try and get to them when I can. I must confess that part of the problem has been my obsession with the Olympics – I have been glued to the TV watching all sorts of weird and wonderful sports  and rooting for any one who took my fancy if there were no Team GB athletes involved. I am quite bereft now it is all over. It was a wonderful Games, the spectacular facilities, a wonderful backdrop to some truly stunning sporting performances. Now it’s up to London to produce a good Games in 2012. Fingers crossed.

This weekend, the weather has brightened up back home as well and I am feeling much better. Luckily, I am also off to sunny Los Angeles for two weeks on Friday so another blast of hot sunshine should complete the recovery. I will be taking my laptop with me this time so I hope to send you regular bulletins from California. In preparation, I have been indulging in a little retail therapy which has probably contributed to my improved state of mind…

Clothes shopping makes me happy so to continue this cheery vibe, watch this video it combines two of my favourite things – paper and babies!

PS My garden table is due to arrive today…it is almost 2pm, I am not holding my breath…

PPS – Just found out about this film, ‘Burn after Reading’. I HAVE to see this, it is the new Coen brothers film (love the Coen brothers’ films) and it stars George Clooney (and you all know how I feel about HIM), Brad Pitt (take him or leave him – am I the only person who thinks he is the WORST comedy actor? Think of his guest appearance in ‘Friends’ – useless) and John Malkovich (weirdly gorgeous) and two great female leads, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton. Here is a trailer. Maybe it will be on in Los Angeles….

I’m glad you are feeling better.

You did miss something important, though. I won the World Cup for England. Really. Check my blog archives a couple weeks ago.

I hope that elusive garden table arrives.

I’ve been looking for an update from you! I’m glad you’re trip was so restorative, and now another trip to LA! What a lucky gal you are!

Good luck on the garden furniture. . .I hope it made it.

SW – Thank you! I just checked your blog – can’t believe I missed that!
We need you in the England team – we didn’t even qualify for the Euro 2008 tournament this year, never mind the World Cup! Maybe you can find some English relatives waaaaay back and be eligible to play for us (although I think you are more likely to play for Greece!)

3.10 pm still not here, they said ‘late morning, early afternoon’ – not looking good….

AmyH – thank you! I am lucky aren’t I? I shall stock up on sunshine for the winter months!
I think I am going to phone the delivery company up – they said I would be second call of the day… :-(

Who knew paper could be so funny???

You are the traveling fiend, aren’t you? If you get any more sun, you’ll become a Vitamin D generator.

That baby video is ABSOLUTELY HYSTERICAL!! Totally LOL. Almost peed my pants. :-)

Thanks for spreading your good cheer!

    Sue – I couldn’t stop laughing when I watched it – such a sweetheart!
Can you OD on Vitamin D? At least I won’t get rickets….

writinggb – it’s so infectious isn’t it! Buy the baby loads of toys and what makes him laugh? A torn newspaper… :-)

Diane, dahling, you are such a jet-setter! If I weren’t so afraid of flying, I’d want to be your personal luggage girl. ;)

Babies have the most delicious laugh! I wanted to tell the father to please remove that booster seat (or whatever it was) out of the way already. Sheesh.

And you’re most welcome to come over to be fed if you want to make that trek to the midwest whilst in the U.S.! Are you going to see your son and your friend Carol (the author…I think that was her name)?

Teresa – personal luggage girl – like the sound of that. The worst thing about travelling is the carting of luggage, the checking in – in fact the whole airport experience. I’m longing for the day when we can just ‘Beam up’ and arrive on the other side of the world instantly! Yes, I watch too much Star Trek!
Well remembered (almost!) I am visiting my friend Claire ( They are filming her book at the mo’ (of which more later!!)

70s – thank you! I hope you had a great time in Madrid, I was checking out your photographs on Flickr and it looks beautiful. I shall bring some Vitamin D back and send you some! (Sunshine formula of course….)

Dunn – he is so funny isn’t he? I arrive in LA on Friday afternoon…..
    Are we there yet?
