Much of a muchness

Things that make you go 'hmm'…

Exit, stage left….

That’s it. I’ve had enough. My replacement garden furniture has still not arrived – despite being promised delivery in 2 weeks, 4 weeks ago. They now say, that they can only deliver my table when there is another customer in my area to deliver to ‘to make it worth their while’. WHAT?!!!! What if no-one ‘in my area’ buys a table for the next 2 years? Do I have to wait that long? They have my money, I want my table!! It’s just as well (sort of) that we are having a rubbish summer or I would be EVEN MORE ANGRY.

I tried to play tennis today and we were rained off after 2 games. I am sick of this weather, so when a friend who is holidaying in Mallorca rang me yesterday and said she had come indoors as it was too hot to sit in the sun, it was the last straw. I secured myself an invitation, booked a flight and am off to join her tomorrow. Who says I’m not spontaneous?

So, a very short post, just this, which is for writinggb who admired the BBC’s ‘Monkey’ Olympics trailer last post. Here is another promo the BBC broadcast a few years ago. I love it. So in the spirit of irony, I give you ‘A Perfect Day’. See how many celebs you can name…

    I envy your spontaneity.

Sorry about the tennis. That’s frustrating.

Have fun in the warmth in Mallorca.

That sucks about the furniture. I hope you can get some of the money back.

You’re not that far west of us and your weather seems awful whilst we’ve had a lovely summer …….. I do apologise for smiling …… and I certainly wouldn’t admit to a tee hee.

Have a lovely time – we’ve visited and sailed around Mallorca several times ……. happy memories …..

What?? You’re leaving us on account of a little rain (and no garden furniture)??

I hope you’ll have a grand, spontaneous vacation (or holiday, as you say). Play a round of tennis for me, will you? :)

SW – not really like me at all – I usually plan things to withtin an inch of their lives but it was get away or go bonkers :-)
I seemed doomed to have no garden table perhaps it is just not meant to be…my last one rotted away until it could be pulled apart with my bare hands…

DP – tee hee away, it won’t matter once I move in with you and TG… :-D
It does seem to be the west of the country that has had more than its fair share of rain. You seem to get problems with the wind instead….

Teresa – you betcha! It’s been a LOT of rain and apart from maybe 3 days early in July, the weather has been grey or very wet. I am deeply bored and borderline depressed – I think I have Seasonal Affective Disorder or something, I’m normally quite a cheery soul. So I am off to the sun to stock up on Vitamin D :-)
It’s only a week – and I’ll try to keep up with things while I’m away :-)

I recently had my leather lounge repaired (only 12 months old and a fault in the frame)..
they kept the lounge for a month with no offer of a replacement…grrrrrrr

D ~ the weather is sooooo hot over here. Just make sure you don’t attach any rain clouds to your case… have a fabby time … I am back to rain on Sunday :(

Kim – at least it is supposed to be your winter! This is what passes for summer here!
Sorry about your furniture woes – bad customer service just drives me bonkers – hope it’s all sorted out now.

Creechman – didn’t you read what I said? It’s raining!! Ana will be sunning herself somewhere nice and hot. Ooh! Just thought Rafa Nadal comes from Mallorca – maybe I’ll see him!
Nah! Just thought – he’s in China for the Olympics….

70s – glad you are having sunshine – even if it is a bit too hot, it has to be better than the rain which is lashing down at the moment accompanied by gale force winds – marvellous.
I have checked out the forecast for the next few days for Palma – wall to wall sunshine!!! Hurrah!

    I feel your pain, m’dear!

I broke my garden furniture in an unfortunate ‘hurling my man-servant across the garden’ incident, and am still awaiting replacements.

Why are we cursed so, I ask!

    Do enjoy your brief respite!

Oh no! That furniture thing is not resolved till now. It’s highly pissing off. You know when it comes to going out I am also spontaneous. I don’t mind going out even when I am ill. You have a lovely time. :)

  11. AmyH August 14, 2008 at 8:26 pm

Oh, the spontaneity! How I do envy you your tropical vacation. I was just looking at Mallorca the other day for a possible winter getaway. I hope to hear good things!

  12. writinggb August 14, 2008 at 10:22 pm

A great clip! The garden looks a little like Tellietubbieland to me, I’m afraid. But I like the lines from the song, “You reap what you sow.”

I hope you have a marvelous trip. Spontaneity is a good thing. Let’s all shake things up a bit. Hell, I might even make zucchini cake for dinner tonight. My God, I’m adventurous.

  13. Scratch Bags August 17, 2008 at 1:15 pm

I have NOT tagged you.! :-P

  14. creechman August 17, 2008 at 2:30 pm

I’m not sunning myself in Majorca. I’m sweating on Bay Area Boulevard.

  15. RennyBA August 17, 2008 at 9:15 pm

No wonder you are pissed off – both because of the furniture and the weather. Didn’t know you played tennis though. I do too, but in the indoor season from September to April, so even if its -15 and snowy, me and my partner enjoy the game every Saturday.

Have a happy week ahead Diane :-)

  16. 70steen August 19, 2008 at 6:45 pm

Just back from wall to wall sunshine .. my it does the soul good :-)

Woke up this morning to go back to work and it was grey and lashing it down … we certainly are getting the worst part of global warming :(

I am experiencing something similar with an over priced basket company. They were suppose to send my product 2 weeks ago. I am going to give a few more days and then I am going to have to put them on full blast in a post on my blog.

Ugg what are they thinking holding my product up….

  18. Teresa August 23, 2008 at 1:01 am

    You’re back, you’re back, you’re back!! Yay!! :)

I actually take vit. D pills. Seems to help me quite a bit.

  19. The Rev. August 26, 2008 at 4:19 pm

Wonkiest thing I ever heard – what if noone ever buys any furniture? Your purchase gets treated simply as an investment in the company?? Crazy…

I have similar problems with my cable/internet company – they simply enjoy inventing charges just to see if their customers notice (most don’t – I do).

    Good luck!
