Things that make you go 'hmm'…

The return of Thelma and Louise

Just a very quick post to show you this book and to tell you I’m not going to be around for a week or so. I’m off on an adventure – I’m flying to Geneva with a friend and we are then driving to Barcelona and catching a ferry over to Mallorca. We are then going to spend a few days at her apartment before flying back to the UK next week. I’m looking forward to the trip – Thelma and Louise eat your heart out! On second thoughts, that didn’t end too well, so maybe not :-)

As I will be traveling around, I won’t be taking my laptop so I’ll be having an enforced break from blogging, so apologies if I don’t visit yours for a while. I’ll catch up on my return. In the meantime, Kim over at Laketrees is having a little competition and is inviting people to vote for their favourite art work. I rather foolishly entered a book and it is up against some stiff competition – mostly (if not all paintings). If you are feeling kind and generous, and like my books I’d appreciate a vote or two so I don’t end up as a complete ‘Billy No-Mates’ over there. Thanking you kindly….

wow that sounds one helluva fabby tip.
I went to Geneva for the day a fair few years ago now and was dying to see the jet de l’eau (the Champions and all that) ….. well it was switched off because of wind 300 metres up ????? Drat!!

[have been and popped a vote in btw :-)]

It’s funny – we were only talking about ‘the Champions’ last time I was in Geneva a few weeks ago! Alexandra Bastedo was so gorgeous and I had a big crush on Stuart Damon….

    Thank you for the vote!

Have you driven in Barcelona before? Only been there once and spent most of the time driving round and round the motorways – oh well. Oh yes, that was one of our yacht buying trips – tee hee.

Whoops ………. have a lovely time!!!

  5. Daddy Papersurfer May 17, 2008 at 10:15 pm

I’m hoping I will be the navigator for that bit of the trip….
I will do my best to have a good time….
Well, that’s not much good if I send you over there and you vote for someone else is it?

    Great books as always Diane!

Congrats with your nomination at Kim’s – I’ve voted for you of course!

Wishing you a wonderful trip – sounds exciting! But: How can you go without your laptop!?!?!?

you’re in barcelona? but that’s where I’m headed on june 13. dammit – we’ll be ships passing in the night :-(

  10. Creechman May 18, 2008 at 10:39 pm

Is that a book cover or Rubics cube?

I’m sure your favorite actress, Martine McCutcheon, with dreadful cockney sparrow speech, would approve.

  11. Teresa May 19, 2008 at 3:50 pm

Creechman hit it right on the nose…it IS a Rubics book! ;) And it’s so cheerful that I will forgive you for leaving me just as I got back from spending time with my sister.

    You got my vote…as always!

Have a fabulous time doing the Thelma and Louise thing, but remember to avoid cliffs…and maybe avoid guns as well. Heh heh

Do they really say BarTHelona as my tour guide claimed they do in Barcelona? I had the feeling he was pulling my leg. And you’re a brave woman. I can barely drive and find my way around on our small town roads, let alone in a big, foreign city.

Do have a most splendid time on your own astonishing adventure, m’dear!

    Hi Diane,

Sounds like a great adventure is in the offing here. have fun. Will you not grow into another dress size with this trip? LOL! Just teasing.:-)

I don’t think you have to worry about getting a zilch in the voting. Your book may unlike all the entries but it certainly is artistic. And, it can do what no other entry can do, house all those photos og all entries in it, plastered beneath your work of art. :-) Let them try that with their entries. :-) –Durano, done!

Oh I love Kim and I love your books…so NP…I will head straight over.

Also I simply love Thelma and Louise. They are perfect examples of good old American wild and crazy women.LOLZ!!

I hope you have a good trip. We are headed out on the road too. however, I am taking my old laptop and will try my best to keep up. But, last summer it was very difficult!!

Have FUN!!!! I just returned from a Thelma & Louise type trip myself! :)

  16. Jenny May 21, 2008 at 11:07 pm

Why sure, luv! I’m sure your book is the best thing over there anyway,

Hope your trip is thoroughly wonderful!

  17. DrowseyMonkey May 25, 2008 at 2:46 am

I like that book…it’s very funky! Can’t wait for posts about your trip…and the photos of course. Sounds like an exciting adventure for sure!

  18. Creechman May 25, 2008 at 12:31 pm

I get the feeling someone is driving cross-country in France and Spain, and it isn’t Moi.

  19. Catalina May 27, 2008 at 10:37 am

Oh! I was born in Mallorca! go to Soller as well :)

  20. Diane May 29, 2008 at 10:54 am

Renny – as we were going to be on the road I thought I would see if I could manage without my laptop for a week. It has been hard, very hard! I have resorted to checking emails on my iPod hanging out of the window, at one point. I have to face it, I’m addicted :-)
    Thanks for the vote!

Kim – thanks! Missed the excitement of all the polling but liked the painting that won – a real eyeful!

Nurse Myra – I hope you get to see more of Barcelona than I did! We got lost in a suburb and only saw the port area. I would love to go back and do it properly….have fun on your trip!

Creechman – bet you can do a Rubic’s cube really quickly….not sure about Martine though…

Teresa – thank you, you are very kind, as always! Yes, they do pronounce it with a bit of a lisp – always sounds silly when I say t like that :-)

Lord L – thanks! We did have a great time despite dodgy weather!

Durano – thank you! I have indeed grown a dress size. If the weather is rubbish, the temptation to spend time on long lazy lunches and suppers is too great to be resisted :-)
My book didn’t win but it did get some votes so thank you if you voted for me!

Shinade – I missed my laptop, I must admit…even so, we did have a great time and manged to avoid cliffs and guns…. Brad Pitt coming along would have been nice though! Have fun on your trip :-)

Olga – thank you! Hope you had as much fun as we did!

Jenny – you are a sweetie – thanks!

Drowsey – thank you! Glad you like this book – I do. The trip was fun and I have posted photos – only some though, you will be relieved to know, I do tend to take far too many :-)

Creechman – correct! (but not any more….)

Catalina – I didn’t make it to Soller this time – it’s a bit of a trek from where we were – all those windy roads :-) but I have been on previous visits. It is SO pretty there. That northern coastline is stunning isn’t it?

    Shinade – thank you!
