Things that make you go 'hmm'…

Strawberries and cream

Here it is. The super book, the ratings winner! I give you – the strawberry book! It’s a photograph of strawberries printed onto ink jet linen book cloth. I dithered for ages wondering what colour ribbon to use – red just blended in too much, my green ribbon wasn’t the right shade of green – and then it hit me. Strawberries and cream – why not? This is the original photograph, you can see the colours are much more vivid but I quite like the weathered look of the image when printed onto the linen

I had some visitors yesterday. They had obviously left their wives at home looking after the kids and were on a boys day out…they were so sweet. They were six ducks who have visited several times before and explored all the garden, much to the consternation of my neighbour’s cat who was very intrigued and one day, lay in wait behind a plant pot waiting to ambush them. (The photo is blurred but you get the picture!) The ducks just looked at the cat disdainfully and waddled back to the river and swam off.

Poor kitty. Still, he’s no hunter but he can always get a job with one of these kitties. Maybe this is where the word caterwauling comes from….

Anyways, I’m off to watch ‘Heroes’. Series two is just starting -I’m so excited. For those of you who didn’t see Series 1 or need a quick catch up….

Got that? Save the cheerleader, save the world.

You’ve been wasting time watching Heroes? ….. tsk …..

[quite a good start I thought, against the opinion of the stupid reviewer in the Radio Times. Was the symbol round the blokes neck at the end the same as the one the girls been drawing? ]

    ……… complete childish nonsense!!!

I reckon it was…..and now I’m off to BBC3 to watch next weeks episode….impatient? Moi?

    Badge is back…..

Now that you’ve done the strawberries, you should go for something with leather straps or so. I wonder why my visitor stats go high since some time. Maybe because of posts titled “first time leather” … hey, if they will buy one of your books, it’s worth it, isn’t it? ;-)

Mmm, strawberries and cream…reminds me of Wimbledon. Where’s my champagne? ;) Your book is delish!

That’s one funny photo of the cat trying to sneak up on ducks at least as big as he.

We’re going to wait for the DVDs of Heroes, Season 2 to come out before renting them. We never remember to watch shows when they’re on TV. Have fun!

I love the strawberries! I think you should keep this book as a permanent image in your sidebar.

Oooohhh–Heroes! I just finished watching the second series. Not as good as the first, but still good. I can’t wait for new episodes to begin this fall.

AmyH – DON’T give any secrets away!!!!

  7. Diane April 25, 2008 at 10:09 am

Astrid – funny you should say that – I have just finished one of those leather soft cover stitched spine books like you have been making! I shall definitely emphasise the LEATHER :)

Teresa – I love strawberries – and champagne! I’m off to Wimbledon this year. Managed to get tickets in the draw!

Heroes was good – watched two episodes and enjoyed them. I always set the recorder to ‘series link’ so I don’t miss an episode of my favourite series.

AmyH – I’m going to add some more books to Flickr soon as those have been there a while

DP – ha! you watch it too!

Yummy book! Nice choice of ribbons. That animated cat image is hilarious!

Cute ducks photo. We just went to the park yesterday and saw the ducks. My daughter loves them!

I don’t know where you get that idea from ……… tsk

Paul – I love my ducks too, they are such comical creatures. They waddle all over the garden inspecting everything. We used to live near Windsor and my boys used to enjoy feeding the ducks and swans on the River Thames.

DP – you are a bit of a ‘Hero’ yourself, aren’t you? What’s your special power…..?

From Strawberries via Ducks and Kittens to Cheerleaders,
you are the born After Ski Queen;))

btw. Got the idea from your comment to RennyBA’s post about the Ski Museum in Oslo.

TorAa – I do seem to cover a lot of ground in this post!

And I am VERY good at apres-ski :-) Even if I do say so myself……

the strawberries just have to be one of my favourites from your excellent collection of books :-)
My pup tried to chase ducks yesterday and she was so baffled as they waddled then flew away.. I swear she had that ‘huh!…. how did they do that?’ look

  14. Teresa April 25, 2008 at 11:13 pm

No way!! You are going to Wimbledon?! I’m so thrilled for you!!!

One year, I was in London when the French Open was on, and then another year, I was in Scotland when Wimbledon was on. Never in the right country at the right time. ;)

My recorder is too ancient to do a “series link”. I have to rely on NetFlix.

70steen – glad you like it! And I got to eat the strawberries….must try more ‘edible’ books, maybe a chocolate one next…..

Teresa – it’s ages since I’ve been to Wimbledon and I’m looking forward to seeing the new Centre Court, should be fun. :-)

Diane, every time I see a book of yours, I fall in love with it “the most.” The strawberries and cream version is most inspired! So delectable, I could almost taste it!

Caterwauling … LOL! Indeed. Love the duckies too.

I have many powers – one being the power of wind [and hot air obviously]

  18. laketrees April 26, 2008 at 9:12 am

    very delicious book Diane !!!
and the cream bows top it off beautifully :)
looks like you are getting some nice sunny weather over there….
your neigbour’s cat may end up catching one of them if they’re not careful….
love the cat piano lol …

Could somebody save a cheerleader for me, please?

  20. Diane April 26, 2008 at 9:45 am

Jenny – glad you liked this one. I really enjoy doing the books using my photographs – they feel more personal somehow. Only problem is my inkjet linen comes from paper Source so I have to find a way of getting it to the UK cheaply….

DP – then you are my Hero…. :-)

Kim – glad you liked the book, the cream bows do work don’t they?
It is sunny today but rain forecast for tomorrow and next week. Consistency, that’s what we need!
I was keeping an eye on the cat, if he had showed any signs of getting dangerously close to the ducks I was ready to leap into action! He seems fairly useless though…. :-)

Your Lordship…..I’ll do my best. You may have to resort to watching ‘Bring It On’ or ‘Heroes’ instead though.
Actually, given your ‘superpower’ I’m surprised you aren’t appearing in ‘Heroes’ – cameo appearance maybe? :-)
