It must be the Oscar’s ceremony which has inspired so many awards recently and just like buses, along come another batch all together!
Kim at laketrees has not only sent THE sweetest little award winging my way but has tagged me in the ‘Message in a Bottle’ meme. First, the award, how cute is this?
The ‘Message in the Bottle’ meme is quite complicated. Lots of instructions, so deep breath – here goes.
**** START COPY****
In a Bottle across the Blog Ocean. Leave a message in the sand or on the bottle. Write anything you wish. Be a pirate or a poet. Serious or silly. Anonymous or not. What message would you like to send out to the universe? Mimi’s Message In a Bottle Meme
1. Compose a message to place in your virtual bottle.
2. Right click and SAVE the blank graphic below
3. Use a graphics program of your choice to place the message on the picture
4. Post the Message In a Bottle meme and your creation on your blog along with these rules
5. Tag a minimum of 5 bloggers – or your entire blogroll – to do the same. Notify them of the tag. Your virtual bottle will remain afloat in the blogosphere ocean for all blogernity (That’s a Mimism for blog + eternity.)
Mimi says: “ADD your site to the Mr. Linky list and place your blog’s name and url in a comment HERE TO LET ME KNOW YOU’VE COMPLETED THE MEME. I will add it to the master list of message bottles. Email mimiwrites2005 at yahoo.com if you have questions.”
Go HERE to see all the bottles floating in the blog ocean. The site is called Message In a Bottle.

So basically, copy, paste and follow instructions…..hmm. Even I should be able to manage that…
In the spirit of irony, here’s my ‘Message in a Bottle”
So as you can see it’s getting hard to find people who haven’t already been tagged for this so I’m tagging anyone in my blogroll who fancies doing this one but particularly Struggling Writer, Pete at myGPScamera, Mike at The View From Here,Lord Likely or his friend Andy Fanton. As writers/Photoshop whizzes I’m dying to see what you come up with! Of course, it goes without saying only do this if you want to – no pressure!
A while back I resigned from my role as Founder over at Go! Smell the Flowers (pressure of work, artistic differences, leaving to spend more time with my family and other tried and tested excuses). I still pop over there on occasions, usually when I hear that things are kicking off again (which happens regularly – never a dull moment over there!) They are just in the throes of turning their blog into a full blown community with its 18 ‘founders’ (there were 20 but two, Drowsey Monkey and Olga the Travelling Bra, have also just resigned – see their blogs and GSTF for the reasons why). It’s a very lively place with humour, insults and serious debate flying around – every day brings several new posts and apart from never knowing what is coming up next – you also never know what the regular commentators are going to say next. Fur can fly and frequently does.
Jim & Em who started GSTF have given me a Flower Smeller badge, to read about this please go here. In their words :
‘This badge serves to acknowledge others who are, in their own way, smelling the flowers. They maybe regular visitors to this blog, one of the 18 founders blogs or someone that could contribute here who is yet to visit! Maybe they have recovered from an illness, written a book, made waves in the blogosphere, won the lottery, made a major shift in their life, won promotion, quit the rat race, raising a family, discovering their greatness and on it GO!s as more examples from around the world start to surface’.
I shall have to ponder on who to recommend for one of these badges….they will need to be hardy souls :-)
Any volunteers?
And now as a reward for anyone who has made it this far (thank you) here is a video clip. This is the beautiful song ‘Falling Slowly’ which won the Oscar for best song at this years Oscars. It comes from the film ‘Once’ a small budget, Irish film which has won many prizes and plaudits – you may remember I raved about it some months ago. It is now out on DVD so there is no excuse not to see it. It is quite simply fab.
wow you’re quick Diane…and a great green message on your bottle too !!!!
Mimi won’t throw you in the dungeon ;)
love today’s book….the flowers are wild and the linear qualities on the inside really compliment the outside cover…
really enjoyed hearing that song Monday Night …still have the film on my list of to watch films :)
I was wondering what to write when all of a sudden LOTS of things happened!
I walk along ‘my’ beach and despair sometimes at the shocking amount of rubbish washed up on the beach – plastic bottles seem to be the worst offenders, so I’m not sure encouraging messages in bottles is a good idea – but at least these are virtual bottles and are keeping real bottles out of the sea :-D
Glad you like the book, it’s a fun one.
Isn’t it a great song? The film is charming – very quirky and cute. I loved it as you can tell…. :-)
Thanks for the award again! I’ll try to get to that. I just have one other commitment to get to first (I always wait ’till the last minute).
That sound is very lovely.
Two books in a row I really love. Nice work!
Oh, and my wife and I are about halfway through Doctor Who Series 2. We like Rose’s character but still prefer Martha. The episodes with Rose seem a little sillier than the Series 3 ones. We quite enjoyed the “Girl in the Fireplace” episode.
Kylee – my pleasure – it is a cute award isn’t it – I thought it was a bit ‘girlie’ so I sent it to my girl blogging mates – and the ‘message in a bottle’ to some of my guy blogging mates. Don’t want any misunderstandings :-D
Paul – you are very welcome – glad you want to do it!
It is a beautiful song and a very deserving Oscar winner….
Glad you like the books!
I agree, Martha is much better – and seemed to get better storylines – or maybe the series matured as it went on…
(Torchwood is getting better and better – I hope it makes it over the pond!)
hi Diane!
I don’t know why but this book is so sweet, gorgeos. Maiby because of the colours.
Another award to me… tanck you!
The music is just beautifull
hello diane, thank you for the luv link (via kim) and yes, it is amazing what turns up on the beach, an ocean beach which is more remarkable! you have a fussy tasteful minimal eye – books are great but one always looking at the venue where your pix are taken too…
Hi D and congrats again with the flower smeller award – we so wanted to give you this and feel free to wear it with pride on here….LOLwith the ‘ any volunteers’ for your paying it forward…..classic!
Hi Clara – you are very welcome and I’m glad you like the book. The song is beautiful, isn’t it?
PetMono – you are very welcome! My beach is beautiful and my bit of ocean is the bit between England and France, the English Channel, so it is very busy, so we get a lot of rubbish thrown onto the beach when the sea is rough…and then there are the holidaymakers…. :-(
Glad you like the photographs!
Jim&Em – thanks for thinking of me. It needs passing on to folk made of sterner stuff than me :-)
Aww, Diane, thank you so much for the love award! Finding your blog has been one of the brightest spot in my year…and all I can say is, “right back at ya!”
I have to thank you for not making me do the msg in the bottle game…I started to panic when I read the part about using a graphics editor to make/put in a msg. I don’t have a graphics program. ;)
I can’t listen to the song right now…the kids are trying to do workbooks in the same room as me and it’d be too distracting. But, I look forward to hearing it.
The book is wonderful…so spring like, so funky! It’s also a little ’60s-ish, i.e., psychadelic!
These little suggestions keep getting more complicated. I was just going to say, the book pattern on the right with all the doodle swirls reminds me of what happens to my notepad while waiting on hold for tech support, anywhere.
Hello Diane,
Congrats on your awards, very deserving too :)
Love the spiral doodles in the book, looks really cool and goes well with the outer cover and the page colors brilliantly….what a good eye you have for matching them.
Love your ‘message in a bottle’….now if they would only stop parking their freight containers and cargo on the beaches it would help too. Beach litter on the south coast is a major problem and I think it always will be.
Have a great Friday,
Take care my dear frend,
Colin
Thank you so much for the award, Diane! And thank you for remembering me. You are such a wonderful person. Having you as my friend is one of the greatest thing that happen to me in this blogsphere.
I like the book. It’s so funky. Keep up the good work. :)
Renny – you are always very welcome.
Have a great weekend too. It’s Mother’s Day in the UK so we shall see what happens….. :-)
Colin – thank you! Glad you like this book. It’s always a bonus when I find contrasting papers ready made in a shop – I feel like I’m cheating slightly though :-)
The debris is a problem isn’t it? The scenes after the Napoli washed up weren’t very edifying to see – especially when broadcast round the world. Still, on the positive side, they have done a good job clearing it all up…
Have a great weekend!
Dunn – you are such a sweetheart – just like your avatar :-)
Thanks for all your support and fuel over at FuelMyBlog :-)
Have a wonderful weekend!
Cathryn – thank you! That is so sweet of you to say so…. I am thrilled you enjoy my burblings….I’m never sure that my sense of humour will travel well so it is good to find a kindred spirit so far away!
And there’s now no pressure at all to keep up the standard …..eek! :-)
ha ha Diane
us Aussie convicts don’t have Mothers’ Day this weekend…
ours is in May….
but I’ll tell my family it’s on over your way ..lol…I might be able to trick them.. :)
ps….the badge looks good…
I’m actually thinking of designing some new ones in pastel colours…maybe for the next update ;)

What a beautiful beautiful song – I can understand why it won. Really moving and inspiring too.
Diane, thank you so much for this award, it is so cute and it make me think of the endless love I’m experiencing for my daughter.
Thank you so much
Kylee xxxx

Teresa – I thoroughly enjoy your comments and your blog too!
I used Photoshop to do the message in a bottle. I saw some people put a message really IN the bottle – far too tricky!
I hope you like the song, I think it’s wonderful :-)
Creechman – doodles eh? Mine look very geometric or I write words and embellish them…..
Your such a great blog and Link Love friend – thanks Diane!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend :-)

Can’t stand it any more! You are such an addictive delight that I check several times a day.
Unfortunately I can’t trade blog addresses. I’m just a humble book artist with an e-mail address!
Please, please, keep making me laugh. You are one of the best things in my day.
Cheers,
Cathryn
