Just when we were winning….

Last time I was in Falkiners, I bought some offcuts of leather and I am using a bit of one of these for the spine on this book. These Japanese Chiyogami papers are very pretty – especially the front cover paper and make this a very sweet photograph album. The cream leaves are interleaved with glasseine to protect the photographs.
I had a bit of a disaster today. I played tennis and it was a beautiful day. Sun was shining in a clear blue sky and although it was very cold to start, it soon warmed up and I ended up taking my jacket off, then my fleece and playing in a short sleeved t-shirt (and some track suit bottoms – it wasn’t that warm!) At the very end of the match, when we were winning 7 – 5, 5 – 4 and were at deuce, I ran for a low ball which had just made it over the net and as I reached out to get the ball, I wrenched a muscle in my back and couldn’t continue. My back is killing me. For the first time, I cursed my car which is a low sports jobbie as it was agony getting into it and driving home. I am now making the most of having Number 1 son here and am resting up while he cooks supper. Vegan something or other but anything I don’t have to cook is OK by me!
I can’t sit at my laptop for very long as my hideously complicated Aeron office chair is not set up properly and my back is killing me…back tomorrow, hopefully with chair or back sorted ….

Your books look Great, far superior to my efforts which are very “simple”; I use them for catalogues, like a large juicy fly cast at a potential client in the hope of catching them. I make them one at a time so they are up to date.
All these postures can be useful though. Mood and variety, there was an article in the paper a year or two ago about this “problem” and they came up with some impractical suggestions.

Astrid and Dunn – thank you! I now realize just how many times I roll over during the night – agony! Despite that it felt better this morning – until I bent over to put socks on – eek! Back to square one :-(

Kim – that’s it! I have been trying to think just what this book reminds me of and it’s stained glass windows and mosaics – ‘Byzantine’ describes it perfectly! I shall have to get you to write the copy for my store :-)
Two days on and my back is still sore – I keep tweaking it trying to do simple things – like putting socks on! I’m already so bored with being a crock – I do sympathise with how frustrated you must be – hope your shoulder is easing up :-)
I really liked this book.
Also, I hope your back feels better. Those types of injuries are never fun. :(
It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have a stupidly low sports car. I’m climbing in and out of it like an old lady – not the look I was after…. :-)

My chair has so many adjustable levers and knobs, you almost need to pass a driving test to sit in it…. :-)
My greatest sympathy for you and you back. I can really realate to being irritated by the car as I have a tricky back and and Audi so I know just what you mean. I remember being in serious fear of not being able to get out of the car one time!!
I think the leather binding is fabulous and your books are divine!
It just looks so pathetic, I walk up to this lovely car, feeling cool – and then end up looking ridiculous trying to get into it – and reaching for the seat belt – agony!
So I’m not going anywhere until my back is better :-)

Ouch…poor thing. Did you try a nice, warm soak in some bath salts? That might help a bit.
Yes – I have been soaking it and it does help but I can’t sit still and rest it. It is improving though….slowly
