Things that make you go 'hmm'…

Chrysanthemums and other stuff…

blackchrysanthemum.jpgblackchrysanthemum_closed.jpgblackchrysanthemum_open.jpg

I’m back to my Japanese papers for this one – the chrysanthemum (which happens to be my birthday flower) is a recurring theme in Japanese art. It is known as ‘kiku’ in Japanese and is the crest of the Japanese royal family.

Tried to compose a
Haiku about chrysanthemums
But couldn’t do it.

Now it’s that time again. Awards!!

I was given this award by Drowsey Monkey ( many thanks Mrs M) It was created by Mark from Me And My Drum, and he has called it ‘Be The Blog’.

Mark said: “This badge is for bloggers who make their blog their own, stay with it, interact with their readers, and have fun!”
and he passed this on to those bloggers that in his own words “are showing time and time again that they are true to themselves and that they ARE their blog”

The neat thing is that the award comes in a choice of colours – I have chosen ‘Midnight Oil’ but I could have had ‘Pink Smoothie’ or ‘Creamy Cabernet’.

I am going to pass this onto

I also received this from Colin at Life

According to Colin

‘The Community Blog Award celebrates people who reach out and makes the blogger community a better one. It also underlines the importance of a blogs readership community, one of the most rewarding parts about blogging. It’s the people that come back to comment, adding to the conversation, making you feel like someone is listening and interested.’

Thank you Colin, and I would like to pass it on to

Suburose has a wonderful ‘crafty’ giveaway competition on her blog every week which is always worth checking out…

Last but not least, I must mention that I received an e-mail the other day from my all-time calligraphy hero, Claude Mediavilla, (his book ‘Calligraphy’ has to be the best book on the subject and is available from John Neal Booksellers), thanking me for the link to his blog and saying some very nice things about mine. I am thrilled to bits and you should check out his work on his new web site. It is amazing.

Phew! I think that’s everything! I really must get down to some housework now. Laundry is piling up, dust is settling, dishes need washing….or I could make another book…..

WOW!!! Thanks Diane. I love it :) I am just starting up a badge collection and this will look great on my blog. I will pick it up shortly and add it. It’s nice to know that you enjoy my blog and I am humbled that you thought of me.

This blogosphere is a great community, and that Japanese Chrysanthemum notebook is just divine.

    Have an awesome day!

I really like this book you’ve made! Striking contrast always gets me. I love the one-syllable-too-many haiku. :D

Finally worked out how to get my Founders badge into my sidebar AND link it to GSTF which has taken me best part of the morning! Now I just need to shuffle everything around….

Pete – it is almost as hard to write a haiku that’s wrong as it is to write one that’s right! Maybe I should write about dahlias next time :-)
