Sublime to the ridiculous?

I’m showing you this book but even though it looks finished, it is still a work in progress. I searched high and low for some copper coloured ribbon as I thought that would look best but was unable to find any, so I went with a matching purple ribbon. It looks very ‘blah’ so as I have finally tracked down some copper coloured ribbon (which hopefully arrives in the morning), providing it does look better, I am going to change it over. I shall let you know what happens tomorrow…
I found a stamp which I was given as a gift many years ago and I thought that it would be nice to use it to sign all my books. It has my name written in Chinese and in English (it does occur to me I need to check it does really say my name and not some obscure Chinese swear word!) but it is very pretty and providing it does check out, I shall use it. I would be very grateful to hear from anyone who can shed some light on the Chinese calligraphy…
Now then it’s awards time again.

Now, from the sublime to the ridiculous, as they say! I was also featured on a rather different blog. The Pisstakers, a satirical blog, (“Daily Satire at it’s Best”) features ‘MyBlogLog Sunday’. I was featured in MyBlogLog Sunday 30. Apparently, every Sunday at the same time, they visit and take a snap shot of the last 10 blogs to visit their blog. Their review of my blog follows:

Thanks for the award, Diane. My blog really has been growing in the past month, but I’m not really sure why. I guess people like funny stories about Frankenstein and silly maps.
I LOVE that stamp. That’s a great idea to use it on each book you make. I really like that idea.

SW – I just need to find out if the Chinese characters do in fact spell out Diane but I love the look of it and want to use it. My blog was growing really well until I went off to LA and then it dropped off again, so I am now building it up again. You can’t take your eye off the ball for a moment!
Colin – thank you again. It is a nice way to acknowledge blogs which one has enjoyed. There are some that I think are far too ‘serious’ to send an award to but I still enjoy them all the same – they have to content themselves with an appreciative comment every now and again!

great patterns and colours…. great idea with the stamp….I have a chinese symbol which I used for my energy series and I also have one for Kim…I will have to look up one for laketrees……oh too many things to do and not enough hours in the day….

Congratulations on your award. Shame I tainted your glory with a meagre spot on MBL Sunday! I have to admit, i was quite proud of my little analogy, and then blow me, Anthony Hopkins was interviewed on TV. Small world.

I have just had the stamp/seal checked out and it does indeed say ‘Diane’ in traditional Chinese characters, so I can use it…
I was also told about the simplified Chinese characters which say ‘Diane’. To me they looked even more complicated!
