With many thanks to Astrid of Tulibri, I have managed to rescue the deck chair book. She suggested lining the fabric with paper, so I went off to research how to do this and I discovered some stuff called Bondaweb which is a paper lining for fabric which irons onto the fabric – no glue! Right up my street! So I tracked some down et voilĂ !

It actually looks and feels quite nice. I think using such a sturdy fabric for a first attempt was a little ambitious but I’ve sorted the technique out so any lighter fabrics will be a doddle!
WordPress has been a little temperamental for the last few days. Yesterday all my images vanished from my blog which as you can imagine was disconcerting to say the least! And Technorati haven’t been ‘pinging’ my blog, even when I do it manually. I am not happy! The images have now reappeared – apart from the images on the posts ‘Ups and Downs’ and ‘Spots before my eyes’. As ‘Ups and Downs’ was ‘stumbled’ yesterday and had a huge number of views, I was annoyed to say the least! Particularly as my blog relies on images of my books for its impact – and not necessarily the waffle that I write to accompany it. What a shame. I am now off to contact WordPress support which opens at 9am PDT which by my reckoning is about now. Brace yourself, things could get violent!

Thank you!
I just had a quick look at your blog. It’s so autumnal with all those gorgeous pumpkins! I wouldn’t mind it being Autumn so much if we had had a decent summer here in the UK…
this is absolutely great … immediately evoking north sea coast, warm sand, fresh breeze and beach chairs … sigh. Haven’t been to the coast for such a long time.
I think it makes a perfect travel journal!
Especially like the zig-zag cut endpapers and the rough linen tape you used as bands.
I never heard of bondaweb before, but that sounds great, I’ll have to go for this, too.
smash head!! now that i did some research, I recognize the stuff. I use it stripe wise to fix hems on skirts and trousers! Never came to my mind to use it in bookbinding …
Yay! I’m glad you figured it out!
This book has a “patriotic” feel for me as it resembles the American flag. I also like the bows on this one more than the others. I’m not sure why.
It is the same stuff as is used for skirt hems but this comes in a big sheet, (mine was 45cm wide) with paper backing and can be bought by the metre. It’s called Wonder Under in the US!
It does look like the American flag – maybe I should have made the bows blue! The linen tape bows aren’t quite so pretty and ‘girlie’ – a bit more utilitarian – maybe that’s it!
I was asked if I made more ‘sporty’ books and this was a step in that direction I think.
Diane – what a genius you are… you are sitting on a gold mine
you don’t need to make lots just do limited editions make 10
and when they have gone they’ve gone! Brilliant and gifted-well
done you.!!
Hello to your blog, just found you today. What a darling book! You are my new favorite site.
Why, thank you, Holly! I’m glad you found me and I’m very glad I am your favourite site! I hope you see you here often.
it looks fabulous Diane….and I agree on the US feel to it…..that was my first reaction too……and I like the white bows too…..
congratulations on your stumble…..but that’s bad luck re your images……..I can empathise !!!!!
as for Technorati…bahhhh
I waited months to get my avatar installed there and now my faving capabilities have been limited again for the 60th time….
grrrrrrrrrrrr………
I think that WordPress must have read this post because by the time I logged in to contact them, my images were back! And Technorati started pinging my blog again.
The power of the written word….or just a coincidence!
I was limited yesterday too but then it was allowed almost immediately. I think it’s a bug. I was reading their support pages yesterday and they are ‘migrating the datacenter’ from their old facility at the moment, so I suppose there are going to be glitches until it’s all sorted.
Thanks for the kind words about this book. It was more troublesome than most but is now one of my favourites!
Ihve just learned on this and managed to make my own blong called OneReachingAnother.
am so happy to be here
Diane are you the one iknow
if so then God is great
