I made these more conventional books a while ago and covered them with funky wrapping paper I had bought from Paperchase and used book cloth for the spines and corners. I was quite pleased with them as the range of wrapping papers available is huge and the books are very modern and fun. These fun wrapping papers are also cheaper than the Japanese papers I had used before. I am becoming obsessed with creating books again. It is a nice break from sitting glued to my laptop trying to learn Javascript. However, as I have been asked to design three web sites (hurrah!), I had better make the most of the free time I have now as I don’t suppose there will be much time for books once I make a start on the web sites.
Talking of time, (notice the link there?) Mark Bittman has written a wonderful feature in his regular column in the New York Times called ‘101 Simple Meals in 10 minutes or less’ which is a fantastic resource for anyone who is pushed for time, lacking in inspiration or reluctant to spend hours slaving over a hot oven in the summer heat. (As if. Chance would be a fine thing. It is raining in Dorset yet again). His column is a wonderful source of information, restaurant reviews and recipes (it’s where I found the ‘No Knead bread recipe‘) and includes short videos presenting demonstrations of recipes and techniques by Mark Bittman and guest chefs. Essential reading for anyone interested in food and cooking.

Thank you! I have had to stop making books and searching for lovely papers while I read the new Harry Potter book (which I managed to read in 2 days) – so now, back to the book making! I will post more photographs as they are finished.

Thanks for your kind comments. My trouble is that once I have made a book, I can’t bear to part with It!
