All things Brazilian…

This book is made with one of those Brazilian marbled papers I bought from Papermojo in the US. The paper inside is a modern design by Debra Glanz who has a company called Reminiscence Papers – Paper Mojo stocks their designs.

Do you know I can’t hear the word Brazilian without thinking of painful hair removal and this joke which I saw a few weeks ago…

Every so often, I try to make a book which turns out to be a nightmare. It’s usually when I try something new and attempt to be too ambitious! Yesterday was just such a day. I did finally finish the book but it wasn’t at all what it had started out to be but it reached a point where everything I did with it went wrong so I eventually cut my losses and gave up with it. It’s OK but nothing special – I’ll let you have a peek at it but I shan’t be bragging about this one!

The starfish paper covered book I made a couple of days ago was made with an Italian paper and I had an e-mail yesterday from Lesley Crawley who told me about a company in Pembrokeshire in Wales which stocks these graphic Italian papers. It’s called Porcupine Paper Workshop and the good news is they do mail order, so it will be much cheaper than getting them from the US. It does seem crazy, Italy to England via the USA !

    Hi Diane!

That was a good joke about Bush. I still can’t understand why american elected him twice.

By the way, I like the inner print of your new notebook (the brazilian one).

Hi Jeremie! It was a good joke wasn’t it?

I like that paper too, in fact I’m just about to use it again with a different cover paper as it’s the only one that will match it.

It matches your new WordPress theme ‘Yoghourt’ doesn’t it? Perhaps that is why we like it!

Wow, Diane, you get a “brazillion” points with this post:

    - You posted a great joke
    - Bonus points for said joke because it was about the village idiot who represents my country
    - You admitted that not all of your books are totally freaking awesome (but I’d buy that one anyway), which shows you are human and not a robot
    - You used the word “shan’t” which is cool because nobody says that in the US, though they should

That book cover is great! Love the colours and pattern. When I saw thew inside cover, I thought of the Ubisoft logo. Weird.

That Brazilian marble one was nifty.

Jeremie – Americans didn’t really elect Bush twice. The first time, the Supreme Court elected him. Anyhow, the second time is a prime example of what happens when people allow fear to cloud their judgement.

Astrid – it made me laugh too! Poor George!

Ange – I have some Christmassy paper and was thinking of making some Christmas books – but as a book is ‘for life, not just for Christmas’
I may not. (You may not get that quote – it was put out by an animal rescue charity to stop folk giving pets as Christmas presents but it applies to my books as well!)

Peteej – Thank you for your kind comments. I must confess we on the other side of the pond were not happy when Gorgeous George got voted in again. Feelings were so strong we thought maybe we should get a vote too!
The peach book was going to be so much more complicated originally but I gave up after too many mistakes and re-starts. I became bored with it and just finished it simply!
It does look like the Ubisoft logo doesn’t it!
    I didn’t know you don’t, can’t, won’t use the word shan’t :)

SW – I should have called it my nifty book – but I couldn’t have segued into the Brazilian joke so smoothly then….:)

And more points for actively seeking good segue material. :)

Pete – all these points I am collecting. Can I exchange them for anything? There is a game show in the UK and it’s catch phrase is ‘Point mean prizes’….. :)
