Great blog! I love the internet! I had actually bought a book a couple years ago regarding making books. Your blog is much better and has better finished books!

Regarding old movies, I haven’t seen the one you referred to- but the entire family just watched Sunset Boulevard the other night. Great movie- Gloria Swanson is very creepy in that movie. My Netflix queue is primarily “old” movies- “The Treasure of Sierra Madre” is highly recommended as is “All About Eve” also with Bette Davis.

I saw an old Jack Benney episode on TV the other night. Before the show started they had a Lucky Strike commercial extolling the virtues of their cigarette. It was probably a 2 minute spot- very interesting.

Jon – Thank you! I agree that PC has gone too far nowadays but I do find it funny to see smoking (the scenes in the film where Jerry lights two cigarettes and hands one to Charlotte) being used as a romantic gesture. I hate smoking so much it just makes me go ‘bleugh!’

Mark – do you know – I’m ashamed to say I have never watched it. I even have the DVD and as a bit of an old movie buff (old movies – not me!) it is a glaring omission! However, I will trade you ‘African Queen’….

Kim – I liked that too. I have this paper in several colourways but I like these two together best.
He used to have a car but got rid of it when he moved into the city as he didn’t need it. Of course, as soon as he moved back home – we live outside a small town in a very rural part of the county, he was stuck! As for shopping, I would end up eating nothing but vegan food if I let him do the shopping!

SW – my laptop is my new baby – I love it. It has a built in web cam though and when I tried it out it was very unflattering! I am going to have to raise the Mac up on a platform so it is looking down at me to disguise the double chins!

Congratulations on the new laptop, I’ve always been tempted to get a mac.
