This is another one of my Paper Source papers, as you may remember I’m not particularly fond of blue but I do like this book, the blue and the purple combine really well. It’s a very ‘rich’ looking book and I have filled it with beautiful watercolour paper, which I think it deserves. I’m had an idea about a more ‘experimental’ book for my next effort so it may take longer than usual to complete. Watch this space!

One of the most friendly and supportive bloggers who has made contact through this blog is Kim Barker who has two blogs, Laketrees and PoeArtica. She is a very talented Australian artist, and the portrait I won recently was by her (incidentally, she is starting a new competition to win a portrait on November 1st, so check it out) As I have been writing this blog I have gained in confidence and fluency largely thanks to the supportive comments and encouragement from the many kind souls who have taken the time to comment and encourage, and up at the top of this list of people has to be Kim who now feels like an old friend. Recently she produced the ‘Southern Cross Award’, in her words:

“Over the last 12 months I have made some great friends in Blogging….some old friends and some new friends….
I am giving this limited edition award to my best buddies…these are the buddies who have regularly visited and commented here and at laketrees
thank you to you all…. you are great mates…….
you do not have to pass this award on…this is a token of my friendship….” and she passed the award to

Lisa Mikey Jan Morriconei Hidyn Gems Kitty Deborah MaryAnn Anna Boyd Renny Pearl Colin Ev Santa Diane Sue Blog Elf Lynda Mihaela Captain Life cruiser Fruity Franco Nihal

A lot of these people have commented on my blog too (thank you very much, it’s much appreciated) it makes me feel that I am part of a very supportive, friendly community and it’s typical of Kim that she thought to send this award. Thank you.

I’d like to add Tulibri, Struggling Writer, Clara and Creechman to my own personal list. Thank you all, I may not have an award for you but I am very grateful nonetheless.

    Hi Diane,

Congrats on your award….well deserved too :)

As bloggers, commenting is an essential ingredient and through this medium we all learn from each other.

Love the watercolour paper, looks fantastic and blends really well with the blue and purple.

And congrats back to you! All this mutual back slapping – I love it! I enjoy responding to comments, it keeps the ball rolling as it were and I think if someone has taken the time to comment then it’s only polite to respond!

Glad you like the book, it’s one I particularly like…

Thanks Diane. It was nice to meet you thru Kim :-)

As Colin mentioned, commenting is a large part in the ‘community’ within blogging. You’ve faithfully visited Kim day in and day out during her competition. You certainly deserved her painting, and this award :-)

Thanks for the linky love. I can’t recall that I’ve ever been here, but I must say I like it very much :-)

And that book looks AWESOME. I really am impressed over your result. I love when things are handmade even though I seldom have the time or strength to do it nowadays myself.

When I was younger I had a lot of books to write in, I did write a lot! Calligraphy too. And I had many penpals! Now I’ve switched that to blogging…. *giggles*

Kim – you are very welcome, you have been such a support, it’s just my way of saying thank you to you.
It is a great shade of blue. I do give the books titles so I can find the photos when I file them away – and once I get my web site going – (coming soon I hope), it will be pretty vital to have a way of identifying them!

Captain L – welcome to my blog and glad you like it. I have just spent a fun 10 minutes over at your blog – very good – I shall be back! I know what you mean about writing, this feels like I have penpals all over the world. And it involves no visits to the post office to mail letters – much better!
